When I saw the story that Sammy Baugh died at age 94, I immediately thought of dad, and said to myself "Thanks, Dad, for teaching me who Sammy Baugh was when I was young." I get that same thought whenever I see old footage of baseball and I realize I recognize many of the names from things Dad may have said about that player's history or impact on the game.
It is not so much that I revere these old-timers; it is that the mention of their names makes me instantly connect with my father, and I like that. Thanks, Dad.
